“Been Down So Long It Looks Like Up To Me” was composed after David heard Muddy Waters playing an eight-bar blues. He challenged himself to write his own eight-bar blues which would stay interesting all the way through a performance despite its brief choruses. The superb French pianist Michel Mention stars along with trombonist David Dahlsten and Jackie Kelso on tenor during this rollicking and somewhat whimsical performance.
